The first day of 2023 I installed an extension for Firefox that shows the number of tabs open. I had 657, somehow.

Since then I've been slowly working on closing them and I'm pleased to say that I'm finally done (for now at least). Can someone please be proud of me 😭 I feel like a part of my soul died during this journey lmao

Putting these under a cut but they're not that many. Most of the tabs I had were old fics I wanted to save and journals I wanted to check, my DW reading page open like 20 different times, etc etc

Every year I tell myself I'm gonna participate in the Snowflake Challenge and every year I let myself down. I thought this year would be no exception but then I saw this scavenger hunt and I just love this kind of thing too much. I don't know if I'm going back to complete the previous challenges at some point, or if I'm gonna do the ones posted after. But this one I'm doing even if it takes forever and I have to be fighting both my brain and my laptop the whole damn time ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ

The feed reader I’ve been using for some time is a browser extension called FeedBro. It’s free and it works with Twitter accounts. And also with Instagram accounts, Youtube channels, Etsy shops, Facebook groups, Reddit, Substack newsletters, AO3, and well, sites like Livejournal and Dreamwidth and Tumblr too, of course. Not with Pillowfort though (?)

I’ve been using FeedBro since tozka posted about it and it was honestly life-changing. I'm in the process of adding a bunch of my Instagram follows to my feed so I can stop missing their posts 🥴👍

(Note: it might make your browser load more slowly when you’re first opening it. I say might because I have so much shit in Firefox that I’m not sure what's behind this exactly, plus my laptop is generally not very fast either. But yeah, jsyk.)

Sometimes I'm wasting my life looking at Instagram and I see people who have whole accounts dedicated to stuff like fashion, makeup, skin care, hair care, nail care... And it's like, how are y'all doing this shit?

How can I become this type of person, the type who sees taking care of their appearance as a fun and fulfilling way to spend the time, instead of a tedious and soul-sucking chore that you do because you have no other choice? What's the secret to this life? 😭

I have almost 3,5k tabs to go through and close now and I'm not sure how this even happened 🥴 right now I'm in Super Mega Turbo Hell sitting next to the dude from supernatural)

I bring important news from the blue bird website that most of you probably have seen already, but I still feel the need to spread the word in these lands, just in case.

I found out about the video this morning thanks to this particular tweet (haven't been on twitter much this weekend, but sounds like there are 375648754 other tweets with the video lol). I almost ignored it, and kinda did at first, but people were praising the animation so much it made me curious. Imagine my shock when I click play and see some gorgeous female gaze shit 😳😳😳 I'm still kinda shook, honestly.

People are calling it "trailer" but it's not. It's a promotional video made for the release of the last chapter of the comic it's based on. The comic has a total of 5 chapters and it's available on DLsite. But the important part here is that there is an English translation for the 3 first chapters, the other 2 will be released in the future from what I understand, and they're 50% off for a few weeks!! Here!!!

I love me some female gaze noncon but most of all I love me a good discount. I'm unbelievably happy right now. I literally do not remember the last time I felt this alive 🥴

There is some fanart, even cosplay, and the author seems thrilled with all the attention their character is getting. They're asking people to use these hashtags when sharing stuff so they don't miss it 🥺💖 I'm so happy for them

Internet Bumper Stickers. Found out about these a couple of days ago thanks to Neozones. They're just another type of banner you can use to decorate your pages online. I love this kind of shit and I already saved a bunch that I'll probably add to my site at some point. This nightmare simply never ends!

I follow this person on Twitter who sells zines (the classic type) and collects stickers. They like decorating the envelopes with many of them and sharing pics. Here is a gallery on their site with these pics and some extras.
I've been browsing Livejournal a lot lately trying to find cool icons and resources. I found a couple of icon challenges with concepts I really like. One is 10_lyricons which consisted in making a set of 10 icons with the lyrics of a song. Also 10variations which was about making 10 different icons of the same image. Both of these are inactive so I can't participate, but I might try these ideas on my own. Sounds pretty fun~

I would honestly find so much of the Discourse much less annoying if we could all be chill with there being really complex, interesting, dynamic characters on both sides rather than acting like a preference for the bad guys makings you a deep intellectual and liking the good guys makes you a dumb golden retriever… and by the same account a preference for the heroic characters doesn’t make you a wonderful person by default and ppl who like villains into gollum caricatures.

2. I honestly think it can be an interesting way to explore a character, or make them deal with their personal issues. For example you can take one character and their true/inner repressed self. If there are parallel universes you can take both versions of the character and explore how each version's particular circumstances/past/choices shaped the way they are, what changes and what stays the same no matter what universe they're from. If we're talking about time travel we can take a character who goes through something traumatic or life-changing in some way, and the person they were before that. Idk!!

This week I decided I wanted to save all the fics I had marked for later on AO3, and by saving I mean creating a library with Calibre for them. At first I was doing this manually because I didn't know better. But then I was taking a break and checking DW, and saw that someone happened to ask about tools in ao3some.bluedreaming mentioned this and saved my dumb ass from so many hours of senseless tedium.

I ran into some trouble but I managed to make the thing work in the end, tho not as well as intended I think. The first option doesn't work for me (when I click it downloads a file, but it's always empty) and the second option doesn't automatically download a file like I think it's supposed to? It opens a new page with the info all over the place. But if you save that page, type a name that ends in .csv, and select "Text files", that does the trick.

Thanks to this I managed to save those fics relatively fast* and I'm super happy~

*It took Calibre around 4 hours and a half iirc lol. But there were 515 fics in there (27 pages for reference) and my laptop is an old man who was also doing other things at the same time. Might be different for other people.

(there were 24 deleted fics in total 💔)

Sometimes I see posts from people who have irl friends who are into fandom but like, in the shipping, reading zines and doujinshi sense? Who like buying merch and maybe have ita bags or shrines of their faves? Sometimes even the type of friends you can organize small parties to celebrate some character's birthday with? Or just meet to drink and fangirl together?

I see these things and I wonder how it feels to be God's favorite

(I've met a few people irl who were into anime, but only one of them I actually could consider my friend. And she wasn't like that, at least not with me.

I say anime because that's what I was thinking about when I wrote that, but I guess this could be applied to any of the things I love. I wonder how it is to have irl friends who, not only share your interests, but also are on the same wavelenght when it comes to those things. I wonder if I'll ever experience this in my life.)

Spotify recommended me this song last week or the one before and I've been obsessed with it since then~

After a few days I checked the music video on Youtube and saw that a lot of people were in the comments talking about farts (?) so I went to look that up and:

Last sunday my dear Firefox stopped working. It gave me the "Firefox is already running but is not responding" over and over. This is an error you get when Firefox is not closed properly, and I've gotten it a million of times before. It usually goes away after a few seconds or minutes, and you can start Firefox again with no issues. Well, not this fucking time :)

I'm pretty sure I mentioned this before but I'm the kind of person who always has more than 50 tabs open (and that number already feels too low), which is very stressful. But I can't just close shit randomly because that's 100 times worse.

After a certain amount of time of living like that I just decide I'm going to close tabs and start working on that. It usually takes a few days at least and I'm never totally done, but I stop because it's exhausting and I have other things to do in my life.

But well. The idea here is that every time I do one of those purges, I will be writing posts like this to share some random links I found interesting for whatever reason, that I had open in tabs for God knows how long.

I'm hoping this way I can bring myself to do these purges more regularly and that closing certain tabs will feel less scary, considering that I'm leaving the links to those pages here and not losing them forever.
